About the blind sharer
The Blind Sharer focuses on the exploration of human duality, that is, on that double dream which the being takes charge of during an experiential journey that skirts the border between the unconscious and the real.
Through the intimist deconstruction of the cornerstones of the oneiric, such as the absence of space-time contours, the obsessive repetition of the individual, understood simultaneously as a mirror of awareness and repulsion, the analysis of color and its privation, makes its way an investigation that aims to highlight the identity conflict that dwells in each subject.
The project has its roots in a vast iconography of photographic genres, and in an equally substantial philosophical and narrative literature. A significant clue is already contained in the title, The Blind Sharer (Il Compagno Cieco) in fact, takes on the metaphor that Joseph Conrad gives the reader in the short story "The Secret Sharer" (Il Compagno Segreto).
In the story, the Anglo-Polish writer reveals the leading role of duality through the story of a young captain who is suddenly forced to confront his double who is identical and at the same time completely opposite. This relationship forces the protagonist not only to face a series of questions related to his being, that is, related to the awareness of his identity, which he has always taken for affirmed and clearly explored, but also to question the pre-established route of the vessel, or rather we will say, of his life.
Although this aspect of investigation and questions - exquisitely open - deeply belongs to The Blind Sharer, it is important to point out how Conrad has chosen the adjective secret, i.e. secret, as the incipit of his title, while in our case the accent it is placed on the word blind, that is blind. In fact, unlike the story, the project does not intend to keep the double secret but to make it visible through a blindness aimed at sharpening the other perceptive aspects of being. These can be seen, paradoxically, under the rational gaze that sometimes leads us to ignore, or not to face, the deepest dynamics of the existential self. In this sense, therefore, we will say that our double is blind because it lacks the trappings of a rational observation, but at the same time, and to quote Derrida, with "an invocation to the visionary".
On the other hand, the aspect linked to the word "sharer", which means companion and more literally "sharer", remains intact. In fact, our double is not necessarily bound by the classic dynamics of the doppelgänger, that is, it is not a double of the forcibly evil ego, although it can sometimes we run into it, but a travel companion with whom the individual finds himself sharing and analyzing the pieces of the mosaic of his identity.An analysis that breaks down the blindness of reason through the tools of dreamlike surrealism
The research side of The Blind Sharer finds its representatives in a parable that fades from Chagall to Pudelka, from Derrida to Maya Deren, from Claude Chaun to Breton. The research claims the archetypes, the beauty and the narrative insolence typical of the authors who have investigated the human dimension, and sometimes the dual one, also through the dream and its meticulous deconstruction.
The project aims to explore the question of the double through the unresolved conflict that arises when the unconscious enters the reality of individual identity. Just like in Conrad's story, changing the pre-established course of the self that we have agreed to be with ourselves, in favor of that double that reminds us of the wide range of possibilities in the future that our unconscious underlies.
